American Legion Post 279                                                                                  September 5th, 2017
 
Meeting was called to order at 19:00 hrs, after opening remarks and POW-MIA reconigition, post business was started.

Minutes were read and a motion by  Henry Rosenberger, Seconded by Bill Morrow Minutes were approved.

 
Commander reported the Legion finances as follows:
 
Bar account:                   $4,215.39
General Fund                 $16,153.00
Membership                   Unavailable
 
Commander also reported that the slots took in $4,000 for the month of July.
 
We had a $ 3,600 winner on the slots on Monday Sept 4th and had a $600 winner as well.
 
A slot company approached the Commander about switching our gaming company to theirs.  They told the commander that they would provide give a ways like t shirts and stuff like that.   After speaking with J & J Gaming, the commander found out that J & J would be willing to do the same thing.  A representative from J & J Gaming met with the Commander and Sr. Vice to discuss what they would and could do for the Legion.  They gave the Commander some give a ways to start out with.  T shirts are being made with the Legion Logo and J & J logos on them for us to give to our gaming patrons.  After discussing with J & J, the Commander decided that we would keep them as our gaming company and not switch to another one. 
 
New games will be installed on the slot machines and an offer to replace some of our machines was rejected, 
 
Golf cart is done at a cost of $ 556.74 to get it street legal.  Commander ordered the Legion and American flag for the cart.
 
A remainder of $1,750 is owed to the Commander on the cart.
 
The Commander has installed a POW-MIA flag on our flag pole.
 
There is still some debate on the kitchen floor.  We are trying to see if we can grind the floor clean and put a garage type epoxy down to save some money.
 
All of the electrical in the kitchen has been updated and completed at a cost of $1,265 which has been paid in full.
 
Sewer problems have been corrected.  The drains had to be augured out.  Cost was $200
 
The Commander remarked on how great a job Toni was doing as the Bar Manager.
 
Flowers were sent to Annie whose brother recently passed away.
 
IDOT has not responded to calls from the Commander reference the signs for the Legion as you enter town.
 
Warren Moss had Knee surgery today.  No status of how it went.
 
New business
 
The golf cart is insured as long as it is used for Legion business and events.  Also noted is that all Legion employees are insured for 3 Million.
 
A vote was taken after the commander asked about the Legion donating to the Hurricane in Texas.  After some discussion a motion was made by the Commander that we not donated at this time.  Motion Approved.
 
Ron Hoffstadt made a suggestion that the Legion start selling flags.  Commander said that he would inquire as to the cost and report back next meeting.
 
After no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 19:45 hrs.
