Minutes were read and a motion was made by Ron Hoffstadt. Seconded by Warren Moss Minutes were approved.
The Commander spoke with Department and a decision was made to have the SAL meeting and the Legion Meeting together.  That way everyone is on the same page as to what is going on at the Legion.
Ed Stout, Commander of the SAL and Joel DuPre Sr. Vice of the SAL were in attendance.  The Commander, The Legion Officers, and the Membership welcomed the SAL aboard.
The Commander reported that our finances are as follows:
General Fund                          $ 32,932.99
Bar Account                            $ 11,360.22
Membership                            $ 1,673.49
Building Fund                         $ 7,161.00
Total                                        $ 53,127.70
We had a guest speaker- Sid Wells who is the President of the Sons of the American Revolution spoke about the 9 county area where the group marks cemeteries where soldiers of the American Revolution are buried.  He is putting together a marker for 3 men who served in the Revolutionary War.  He passed around a photo of the marker they are working on now to our members.  He detailed the requirements to join the Sons of the American Revolution and asked the Legion to be involved.  After Mr. Wells spoke, a vote was taken and the Legion donated $ 100 to the organization.  The Motion was made by Ron Hoffstadt and Seconded by Don Bates.
The Commander stated that $ 24,000 is left on the Legion Mortgage.  Commander stated that we could pay the Bldg off if necessary.  He stated that the Slot machines generated $6,000 in the last 2 weeks of April.  The Bar is doing exceptionally well.
The Commander responded to a question on how the other veteran organizations stay so busy.  The Commander stated that the Amvets Auxillary , not the Amvets members themselves are handling all of the events at the Amvets.  The VFW has a kitchen that brings in patrons.
24 tons of rock has been spread on the driveway.  The cost was $900 for the rock and to have the rock spread and rolled from Moeller’s.
The leaks on the roof have been repaired by Chris Willoughby with a 1 year guarantee.
The Commander is getting bids from Hoss Farmer and Chris Willoughby to construct a ramp outside the East walk-through door.
Our recent Comedy show in the banquet hall was ok.  Not great but we did have a good bar.
The Commander read his latest Commanders Corner to the membership.  It stated that the Legion as a whole does nothing for Veterans and we need more volunteers to keep the Legion functioning.  He reiterated that the Legion is not on the verge of closure but we cannot support all of the suggestions from our members and patrons due to lack of personnel to support them.
The Commander spoke about the upcoming Memorial Day Events.  He has lined up the speaker and also a lady from Greene County to play taps.  She has played for 33 years at military services.  The color guard is covered.  We will need some assistance moving chairs and flags to Community Park.  We will be serving pulled pork at the Legion afterwards.
The Commander stated that he would like to see all of the Veteran Organizations work together on the Veterans Events instead of each one responsible for a certain event.
We are still looking at building a smoke shack on the west side of the building.
The Commander stated that most of the extra money the Legion makes goes into the Building Fund to cover upkeep and repairs to the Legion.
Joel DuPre  The SAL Sr. Vice spoke about  how he and the SAL wants to do all they can to help the Legion and where they stand as a group.  He has spoken with several people who have expressed a desire to join and help the Legion.  He stated he is installing additional cabinets to the Kitchen that were donated.  He stated that he wants to start up a veteran’s dinner sponsored by the SAL.
There being now further business, the meeting was adjourned at 20:00 hrs.
