American Legion Post 279                                       8 January 2019
Meeting was called to order 19:00 hrs, The Commander offered a prayer in the absence of the Chaplain, Pledge of Allegiance and POW-MIA Recognition was done, Post business was started.
Minutes were read and a motion was made by Bill Morrow. Seconded by Henry Rosenberger. Minutes were approved.
Legion Finances are as follows:
Bar Account:                          $ 20,889.56
General Fund:                         $ 42,741.89
Building Fund:                       $  10,573.18
Membership:                          $   2,970.00
Raffle Fund:                           $   2,871.43
Total:                                      $  80,046.06
We had 11 members in attendance. 
We have gained a new member Major McCormick,  He retired from Air National Guard.
The Commander noted that Ron Hoffstadt has been out due to being with his wife while she undergoes treatment.
Work around the Legion continues.  Some of the current projects include making the frames for the Past Commanders Pictures in the Legion Hall and we still have a few faucets in the bathrooms to replace.  We have to replace a toilet in the front woman’s bathroom that was broke on New Years Day.
The Commander noted that Divitas Dialysis in Jacksonville donated a check for $ 950 to the Legion that was put in the building fund.
The Queen of Hearts ticket sales have been down due to the holidays.  The Bar is still averaging $ 600 on Thursday Nights.
A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Bill Morrow for all of his efforts in helping restore the Legion.
A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Henry Rosenberger.  Henry purchased the new doors for the Legion.
A big Thanks to Bill and Henry for there efforts in helping our American Legion.  Their efforts are much appreciated.
Warren Moss asked the question of how much was still owed on the Legion mortgage.   The Commander and Bill Morrow thought that around $20,000 to $ 21,000 was owed.
A question was asked about the condition of the furnaces in the Legion.  The Commander noted that Luke Marquard has checked them out and they were all ok.  The plan is to have Luke come back in the spring and service them as needed.
The Commander also noted that there would be a meeting with Glen Robson on Jan 11th to discuss the fishing tournament that is to be held in Sept 2019, the meeting with Glenn is to iron out the details of the event.  He noted that he wants the other Veterans Organizations to be more involved in this event.  This is not just an American Legion Event. 
There being now further business, the meeting was adjourned at 19:20 hrs.
