American Legion Post 279                                       3 January 2017

Meeting was called to order at 19:00 hrs, after opening ceremonies and POW-MIA recognition, post business was started.

inutes were read and a motion was made by Chaplain Eason. Seconded by Jim Carlton Minutes were approved.
The Finance Officer reported that our finances are as follows:

New Business:

Lisa Farmer, Our Bar Manager spoke to the membership about the new pool table.  She stated that the person who is selling the table does not want any money up front.  He will take the $ 800. In a bar tab.  Lisa said that the difference in what we pay versus what we charge for a can of beer would be a significant savings on the table.  It would cost us about 1/3rd the cost.  With the old table we were only collecting $.25 of every $ .75 for every game played.  This way we will collect all of the money.  The Golf came is also not playing well so it will be removed.  Zeddie Bell made a motion to go ahead with the new table and seconded by Steve Susser.  Motion Carried.

The Commander reported that the lady from the Health Dept did not show up due to illness.

The Commander stated that someone had broken the cover lenses out of one of the canopy lights.  He stated that we will have to make some sort of protective cover for it this spring.

The Commander stated that there is a Cardinals game to honor veterans.  It will be on April 30th and tickets prices are $ 26  Regular price is $ 61.

There will be a District meeting in Mt. Sterling.  Contact the Commander if interested.

Jefferson Barracks now has a POW-MIA museum.

Middendorf Auctions will be holding a land auction at the the legion on Jan 6th, 2017.

The Midwest dueling pianos will be in the back Jan 13th at 7:00  Sponsored by Friends of NRA.

The Commander stated that he has inquiries about the hall as far out as 2018.

Chaplain Eason said that a friend of his who is a contractor wanted to come look at the kitchen.

The Legion sent flowers for one of our members, Kenny Kolberer who had passed away last month.

The family of Robert Bradney brought into the Legion some memorabilia from his Grandfathers service in WWII.

There being now further business, the meeting was adjourned at 19:25 hrs.
